This minimally invasive procedure takes just one to two hours and involves lifting the soft tissue layers of the face. Patients are given local anesthesia and sometimes a mild sedative. Patients can generally return to normal activities after approximately one week.

What to Expect During Recovery
Recovery is different for each person, but there are some things you should keep in mind as you recover and heal.
Pain Management
Some swelling, bruising, and discomfort are to be expected. The use of ice and over-the-counter pain medications is recommended to minimize and alleviate these symptoms. Your plastic surgeon may prescribe you pain medication if needed.
Rest
Get plenty of rest during the first 48 hours following surgery. You can begin light exercises like walking and stretching after about two weeks. A normal workout routine can be adopted after about five weeks, but heavy lifting and long runs are still not recommended. Patients can typically return to work in about a week.
Follow-Up Visits
Stitches will be removed at our Orange, CA, practice after about five to seven days. You may have a follow-up appointment around the 4-week mark. It is important to attend all follow-ups so Dr. Cohen can ensure you are healing properly.
